Information
The GDR Microglia and Neuroinflammation, in collaboration with the French Club of Glial Cells and Neuratris, is thrilled to announce that it will organize its 1st Workshop "Microglia: from gene to function" at Bordeaux Neuroschool (https://www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr/en/who-are-we-bordeaux-neurocampus/school-of-neuroscience/) from November 27th to December 1st, 2023.
Co-organized with Neuratris (Neuratris Website) and sposored by the Autism and NDD GIS (autisme-neurodev.org); Bordeaux Neurocampus ; the Company of Biologists and Vizgen, the GDR Workshop is dedicated to young researchers (PhD students, Junior Post-Docs, and starting Engineers), the workshop will gather 20 participants and consist of three practical 2-day workshops, each led by 4 researchers from the GDR who are specialists in these approaches. The chosen themes for the workshops are as follows:
1. Ex-vivo and In-vivo Imaging
- Objective: Learn how to image and analyze the morphology and dynamics of microglia.
- Technological Approaches: Ex-vivo and In-vivo biphotonic microscopy.
2. Microglial Metabolism
- Objective: Learn to characterize microglial metabolic changes in physiopathological contexts.
- Techniques: Microglial isolation by MACs and measurement of cellular respiration on freshly dissociated cells or primary cells in culture.
3. Transcriptomics
- Objective: Understand and analyze Omics data (RNA-seq and scRNA-seq).
- Approaches: Principles and steps of RNA-seq and scRNA-seq approaches; Multivariate analyses; Data contextualization; Step-by-step analysis of a scRNA-seq dataset with the SEURAT package.
Each participant will be able to attend 2 out of the 3 workshops, and a ranking of the three workshops will be requested during pre-registration. Friday afternoon will be dedicated to the presentation of the results obtained in the three workshops and will be an opportunity to exchange ideas on the 3 topics covered.
Program:
Sunday 26/11: Participants' Arrival
Monday 27/11 to Thursday 30/11: Practical Workshops
Friday 01/12: am: "Spatial Transcriptomics" Seminar by Vizgen in conjunction with Bordeaux Neurocampus; pm: Presentation of results from the different workshops
Saturday 02/12: Participants' Departure
Practical Information:
Workshop Cost: €700 per participant (€450 for participants from Bordeaux who do not require accommodation).
